Insurance coverage in a local self-government unit, and in particular in a municipality as the basic entity forming local self-government in Poland , contributes (as a risk management method) to meeting the needs of the local government community as a whole and individual needs. Insurance as an effective method of protection against financial consequences of random events minimizes the disruption of public services (e.g. maintenance of transport routes, ensuring safety) and social services (e.g. education and health services) .
