Overeducation Among Highly-Educated Employees in Poland

Abstract :

This paper presents the issue of overeducation affecting highly?educated employees on the Polish labor market. It analyzes the risk of occupational mismatches according to age, gender, place of residence, economy sector and size of the company, form of employment, field of study, and other factors. Statistical methods were used (descriptive statistics and logistic regression). In this study, a logistic regression model is used to estimate the probability of overeducation for different independent variables. Although the percentage of overeducated women is lower than that of men, more factors affected the risk of occupational mismatches among women. Factors such as sector and job position, part-time work, and the time spent looking for the first job of over a year proved to be significant for the risk of overeducation.
